《Hemlock Semiconductor Group wins 2013 Supplier of the Year Awards from SUMCO Japan and SUMCO USA》:
MIDLAND, MICH. — Tokyo, Japan-based SUMCO Corporation and Phoenix, Ariz.-based SUMCO Phoenix Corporation have both named polycrystalline silicon (polysilicon) manufacturer Hemlock Semiconductor Group as the recipient of the companies’ 2013 Supplier of the Year Awards.
The distinction places Hemlock Semiconductor among SUMCO Japan’s top five suppliers out of approximately 1,000. For 2013, Hemlock Semiconductor scored 92 out of 100 on SUMCO’s supplier evaluation, which examines product quality, technology, cost, delivery and customer service. On the written portion of the evaluation, evaluators specifically thanked Hemlock Semiconductor for contributing to SUMCO’s financial performance for 2013 via the commercialization of key polysilicon products. Since the award program began in 2001, Hemlock Semiconductor has now received recognition six times.
“We appreciate your efforts to provide ongoing communications regarding product life continuous improvement plans, product variability reduction plans, change control forecast, business continuity plans and technological roadmaps,” wrote James K. Fortman, CPM, Corporate Director of Purchasing for SUMCO Phoenix Corporation, in a letter informing Hemlock Semiconductor of the honor. “Thank you again for your continued support in meeting SUMCO’s quality, supply and production requirements.”
“Hemlock Semiconductor is honored to be recognized as a Supplier of the Year for SUMCO,” said Hemlock Semiconductor Corp. Commercial and Product Line Director Phil Dembowski. “The award is a reflection of our commitment to outstanding customer service and the reliable supply of high-quality, cost-competitive materials for the electronics industry. Hemlock Semiconductor has a long history of working with SUMCO, and we look forward to our continued collaboration in the future.”
