MIDLAND, Mich.—Dow Corning Corp. has appointed PolyOne Distribution as its distributor for medical grade silicone products in greater China.
The agreement is intended to expand opportunities for manufactures of health care products in the region to benefit from a wider range of Dow Corning specialty silicone products, the firm said.
“This agreement with Dow Corning strengthens our portfolio to better serve our health care customers located in China and also supports our strategy of helping U.S.-based multinational companies facilitate manufacturing in Asia,” said PolyOne Distribution President Kurt Schuering.
PolyOne said it will offer a single channel for thermoplastic and thermoset resins used in medical applications. Dow Corning said the silicones are suitable for a range of health care applications such as medical adhesives, tubing for drug delivery systems or active pharmaceutical ingredients.
“Dow Corning has many years of experience of working in China to support local companies and multinationals in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors with our expertise and silicone materials,” said Vincent Chang, Dow Corning’s health care commercial manager for Asia.
Dow Corning is a global leader in silicones and silicon-based technology. It said it offers more than 7,000 products to 25,000 customers worldwide.
PolyOne reported 2013 revenues of $3.8 billion and provides specialized polymer materials.
