《Ardex waterproofing, adhesive and grout products used in The Emporium tiling》:
Ardex Australia supplied a complete system comprising of waterproofing, adhesive and grouting products for the tile installation work at The Emporium in Melbourne.
Located in the heart of Melbourne CBD, The Emporium is a premium retail space constructed over a period of three years. Commissioned to install the tiles in all common areas of The Emporium, De Fazio Commercial Tiling completed the job in twelve months covering an enormous floor space of more than 21,000 square metres.
Ardex S16 was chosen for its rapid drying properties and reduced risk of water-staining. Ardex A38 rapid set cement screed was also supplied to improve on-site efficiencies by allowing traffic shortly after application and enabling the floor covering to be laid on the same day.
The project presented a number of challenges with much time spent on-site assessing the various areas for tiling and undertaking quality assurance for the Ardex system. Tiling was specified above 2.7 metres, requiring particular attention and use of Ardex WA100 epoxy.
Ardex also faced a challenge making deliveries to the central CBD location, which necessitated strict adherence to delivery times. With 225 stores over five levels, the product needed to be distributed throughout the entire building.
According to Fabian Morgan, Sales and Marketing Director, Ardex Australia, the project demonstrated the scope of Ardex tiling products, which, combined with quality and skilled workmanship, has achieved outstanding outcomes.
