For sealing oil fittings, Henkel recommends Loctite 577, a fast-curing anaerobic thread sealant that is designed for all coarse metal threads and has WRAS, DVGW and NSF approvals.
It cures in the absence of air and by contact with metals when confined within the threads of pipe connections. It will not creep, shrink or block systems by shredding and is resistant to oil and coolants, making it suitable for heating applications.
Loctite 577 is also suitable for sealing olives to pipes and valve bodies, radiator valve faces and radiator tails with parallel threads. It is said to be ideal for sealing and locking shower valve threads and will lock and seal in any position.
Loctite 577 has a service temperature range of -55°C to 150°C.
