WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, MI— Last year, the Dow Corning Foundation provided 60 organizations with 27 grants totaling nearly $1.175 million.
Details of these 27 grants can be found in the Dow Corning Foundation’s 2013 Annual Report, now available online at http://goo.gl/MTQIRw.
In awarding grants, the Dow Corning Foundation considers initiatives that benefit communities where Dow Corning Corp. employees work and live, the annual report states. Dow Corning is based in Bay County’s Williams Township. Nonprofit organizations may apply for a grant for projects or programs that fit the following selection criteria:
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education Grants
- Community Vitality Grants
- Sustainability Grants
Eligibility requirements are listed at dowcorning.com/foundation.
Last year, Community Vitality Grants totaled $325,600, STEM Education Grants totaled $504,000 and Donor Advised Funds totaled $345,160.
According to a letter from Dow Corning Foundation Director Kathryn Curtiss Spence, last year, the foundation doubled its contributions to the Donor Advised Funds held at the Bay, Midland and Saginaw county community foundations, providing $100,000 per year to each foundation “to fund valuable projects in the counties they serve.”
“Many thanks to our board of trustees, committee members and community foundation partners, who help make every year a successful year of giving for the Dow Corning Foundation,” her letter continued.
Also in 2013, the Dow Corning Foundation received the Outstanding Foundation Award from the National Society of Fundraising Executives Mid-Michigan Chapter.
