The LOCTITE – Henkel Australia adhesive plant in Kilsyth, Melbourne has implemented the Henkel Intelligent Plant Automation System (HIPAS) to facilitate more efficient stock management.
An innovative, real-time electronic stock inventory system, HIPAS uses screens on the plant floor and handheld scanners to track stock changes during the manufacturing process.
Jason Albon, Production and Warehouse Manager explains that stock management previously involved the staff spending a lot of time walking back and forth around the plant. Following the HIPAS implementation, the team has been able to cut back on the unnecessary walking in their daily schedule just to get the job done.
The HIPAS real-time inventory system enables operators to immediately register changes directly into the system, without having to leave their post. The adhesive facility has also been able to reduce the data entry operator strength to just one from three staff members, while also saving substantial amounts of paper.
Proven as a more automated and optimised stock management process globally, HIPAS is being evaluated for implementation at other sites.
