Henkel Purchases: German Consumer Goods Group May Splash out on Further Acquisitions – CFO’s Newspaper Interview

《Henkel Purchases: German Consumer Goods Group May Splash out on Further Acquisitions – CFO’s Newspaper Interview》:

Henkel, German customer goods group, can make purchases to support its assortment of cleaning products and hair care tools after announcing two arrangements this month, its CFO was quoted saying.
Carsten Knobel told German weekly Euro am Sonntag: “We do not rule out larger takeovers in that area.”
Recently company struck an agreement to purchase a French household cleaner manufacturer Spotless and three American brands of hair care products, dipping to 4 billion euro ($ 5.5 billion) war chest it had been building over several quarters.
Knobel ruled out that Henkel could return some of its free cash to shareowners, for example, for example through share repurchases.
He told the paper: “That is currently not an option. Investments in further development of the company, including acquisitions, remain the best way to increase value in the interest of shareholders.”
Knobel said he supposes to see similar negative effects of currency in the second and third-quarter results of the company in the first quarter.
In the first three months of the year sales of Henkel dropped 2.6 percent to 3.93 billion euros as currency effects shaved almost 7 percentage points from growth.
Knobel said: “In the short term our ability to offset these negative effects is limited.”
